Had some difficulty ordering the microphone. Ordered it new at a web shop. When it arrived it was clear that it was "repacked" and than sent to me. I returned it to the shop, when I pay new prices I expect new/unused products. Got a refund and didn't have to pay shipping costs for the return goods. ...

OK, so better not use the Service Menu, that's what I thought.
The 870 has the C131 mod and receives audio from the rear already.
Tnx for the help. Best way to improve the audio further is external "gadgets".

Cheers,

Chris

TS-870: tweaking the menu

What would be the best ESSB setting(s) in the TS 870 menu. Menu option 29 set to 3000 Hz is obvious but are there more settings to improve ESSB TX and/or RX? Text from NU9N.com (best ESSB settings for Kenwood TS-870S) Menu #29 Bandwidth 3000 Hz Menu #30 Bandshift 0 or 100 Menu #31 TX EQ H or C Menu ...

Googled some more, many audio fora (Gearslutz etc) give it a thumbs up and state that this one is better than the Rode NTK and just a little more expensive. http://www.rodemic.com/mics/k2 Placed the order, will leave some feedback after the tube switch has been made and the mike is hooked up on the ...

ACC2 plug is hard to find

Spent a lot of time searching the net before I managed to find/buy an ACC2 connector. The shopowner mailed that Icom had a similar connector that was cheaper, costs were 14 euro ($ 17) the Kenwood ACC2 was 35 euro ($ 43). I opted for the Kenwood version. An audiochain is as strong as its weakest lin...

Been watching the auction, wow, 44 bids and the last one was 644 US dollars. Haven't got a clue what these babies cost when Kenwood sold them new, but there still is a lot of demand, Kenwood could make some money if they started production again. I played with the idea of buying an 850 but the fact ...

Hi VooDoo Guru, Tnx for your explanation. Googled some more on DRM. Well I'll start with the C131 mod first and take one step at the time before I try to run. I'll stay away from the 4KC INRAD mod, that is no use I saw in your other topic. The 870 is under construction now. Needs some tuning up and ...

There it says: "an external connector that I can plug into for the 12KHz IF" What is the benefit of this mod?
