Howdy Alex,

The HHB Radius-20 and the TL Audio 5013 are basically the same except for some cosmetic & a few electrical differences.

Cosmetically, the color schemes are completely different between the two units. Tastes will vary on who likes what, we like the HHB Colors.

Electrically, there are a few differences on the later model 5013 Ivory Mk2:

1 - On the HHB, the dual stage triode tube was used just before the filter stages, on the 5013 Mk2 they split the stages and put one stage in front of the filter circuits, and the other stage behind the filters.

2 - The 5013 Mk2 has Shelving filters on the LF and HF filters that can be activated by pulling out on the Q Control. The HHB does not have this feature.

3 - The 5013 Mk2 has a selectable FAT Contour control for each channel whereas the HHB does not.

Other then this they are pretty much the same,

Howdy Alex,
Well, the Radius-20 has gone to a new home.
We have upgraded to a HHB Classic 70 that is in it's place now.
This is the same unit as the later model TL Audio EQ2.
Things are always changing here!!

Mike

Another question if i get the TL Audio 5013 is the mod the same with the Radius 20? Do you recomend the mods to it , as in the Radius 20?
Or basically any parametric EQ will do as the same with Radius 20 and TL Audio 5013? Tube type is better than solid state device, i know you did mention the sonic effect of tube type.

Yes, the mods are pretty much identical between the Radius 20 and the 5013.

Yes, the difference would be phenomenal.

Or basically any parametric EQ will do as the same with Radius 20 and TL Audio 5013? Tube type is better than solid state device, i know you did mention the sonic effect of tube type.
We are very strong advocates of ANALOG AUDIO over digital. Just about any type of Analog Parametric EQ will be a tremendous step up from a Digital type with Tubage being a giant eap in the favorable direction.

Mike

I want to know if i get the HHB classic 70 or TL Audio EQ2, do i have to mod them also same as the radius 20 and 5013?

Because i check the mod cost of the radius 20 and 5013, unit and mod parts cost almost near the cost the classic 70 and 5013.

Can you give more info.

Thanks again

Alex

Howdy Alex,

Modifications will make a unit sound better then factory stock whether it is a Radius -20 or Classic 70.

The un-modified Classic 70 sounds better then the un-modified Radius 20 as it is a better EQ.

We would say that the Modified Radius 20 sounds better then an un-modified Classic 70.

A Modified Classic 70 sounds better then a Modified Radius 20.

It all depends on what you want and how much money you want to spend.
