Ts870 upgraded to voodoo modded 950sdx

Post by 2e0pup »

hi all

I have finally upgraded my ts-870 to a VMSDX, yay, I have had the radio running for a week now, using my rack and pr-40, and i must say im happy with the results, i still need to tweak a few things and maybe start collecting some bellari gear :) , although the mrs may start with the daggers lol.

i am using a deq2496 for the eq and using channel 2 for the multiband compression and the results have been great so far, so is there any must haves to go with the sdx for that harmonic quality ?

my set up is as follows

Pr-40

DBX single channel mic pre amp (i had a behringer tube one but packed in)

Behringer tube compressor channel 1

deq 2496 channel 1

ex3200 channel 1 to channel 2

into deq 2496 channel 2 (multiband conpression)

then to VMSDX

thanks in advance guys

That voodooo that you do so well !!!!!!!

Howdy,

Congrats on the VMSDX!!!!

It sounds like you have a great combination of Audio Equipment to get you started! You are correct in going for the Bellari stuff next as it is the next most inexpensive step in the ladder that will get you the best audio for the buck.

The RP533 is a Voodoo Majik device!! It would make a fine addition for your Voodoo Rack.

thanks for the quick reply, i am really happy with the radio, although i have nothing bad to say about the 870 it replaced :D

I have another question i made an observation today and it seems i have a few RFI gremlins creeping in, I think it may be something to do with the antenna but im not sure, if i listen to the monitor whilst using a dunny load, i hear a clean sound no distortion at all with any combination of sssssss, ttttt, etc, as soon as i switch to the antenna there is a raspy sound on the s's and t's.

i have ferrites everywhere on the audio gear and suggestions guys, the antenna is a 80m dipole, feed with coax to a balun.

thanks in advance

My question is too complicated?. If you work on the transmission of only 3 kHz, there is no need to sell 870 to buy 950!this is so?

Howdy ua3lnk,

The Voodoo Modified TS-950sdx is better then the TS-870 in all respects.
The list would take a long time to type out all the differences.

Take Care,
Howdy!! But I do not work 6kHz! I only work 3 kHz! At 870 band 20 3500 Hz transfer! And receiver 20 6000 Hz. No reason. Maybe I do not understand?

870 is worse only because it does not work at 6kHz gear! That's it!. 8) All I hear from you - better is better, and what? And no one says why.

He does not know what he was better.950 is better only because it has a 6kHz transfer!I'm interested in just the facts! And not assumptions!

Oh yes!
You will learn to love this piece of equipment.
It has a tremendous ability to give lots of density and separation to the audio mix.

Congratulations!
