Howdy Freddy,
The TS-850 will sound very good stock, it has that smooth Kenwood Audio.

But...

You will be very limited in Hi-Fi or Voodoo Audio performance. Your SSB transmit bandwidth will be from about 90Hz to 2.7kHz due to both the limiting factors of the Microphone Preamp circuitry inside the rig, and also the 2.7kHz crystal you will have to use to keep the transmitted signal Single Sideband.
The Stock TS-850 will transmit at a wider bandwidth with the power on menu mods, but without the DSP-100, anything transmitted over 2.7kHz will be Double Sideband. The reason for this is that the filters are used to remove the opposite sideband and the Carrier Offset cannot be adjusted enough to use the wider filters. This is where the DSP-100 comes into play as it does this digitally.
DSP-100 are as rare as Hens Teeth, good luck on your search.

Unfortunately, there is not.
For the TS-850, the DSP-100 is the only answer.
